The last few weeks have been a very challenging time for all of us. The only thing certain in the world right now is that the future is uncertain. Many businesses have been forced to close down, and often, service providers or solo entrepreneurs can’t operate their businesses anymore or service their valued customers. In this blog post, I will outline what you can do today to help your business grow in the future
Time is a limited resource for a small business owner. If you have some time right now, make sure you invest it in marketing tactics that will benefit your business and your brand in the future.
If you wonder what tasks you can complete today, even when you don’t operate your business, I have written the list below to help you.
Digital Marketing Tasks To Do During COVID-19 –
To Grow Your Business In The Future
It is essential to know that even if you can’t operate your business right now, there are some digital marketing tasks to do during COVID-19 in order to help your business grow in the future.
1. Invest in a new website or improve your existing one
Now is the perfect time to build a new website or improve the website you already own. If you always wanted to invest in WordPress, create a blog and or new lead magnet, then this is the time to do so. You don’t need to hire a web developer and there are many platforms you can use by yourself to build your dream website. You can start here with my website builder guide.
2. Build an online store
If you sell goods in a physical location or store this is the time to invest in opening an online store. An online store will help you to provide better service to your valued customer. In addition, it will allow you to reach new customers from different locations.
3. Invest in your social channels
Review all your social channels to make sure your settings, content, and images are all aligned with your brand. If you always wanted to try a new platform, you can now invest your time in learning how to set up your account.
4. Write Evergreen blog posts
Evergreen content is the name for blog posts that will always be valuable for your customers. This is content that you will publish on your website to attract your customers. For example: If I’m a sleeping consultant, I can write a blog post about: “How many hours your baby should sleep a day”.
Experienced marketers will advise you to post regularly on your blog, but most of us find it hard to write a new post every week or even post bi-weekly.
If you can use the next few weeks to write your future evergreen content, you will save yourself sometime later this year.
5. Create Marketing content for the future
There are many elements that you can create right now that will help you market your business in the future. Here are some ideas for you:
- Create images for your social media channels.
- Write your marketing content: Letters you send out to your clients, your Christmas wishes and other holiday communications.
- Produce a video about your business or introduction video about yourself.
- Create short videos for your Facebook page and Instagram account.
- Schedule your Facebook page posts for the rest of the year.
- Create a new template for your mailing list.
- Start working on your blog: write epic blog posts that you will upload once a week.
Keep in mind that when someone watches a video that you upload to your Facebook page, they have no idea when you created it. You can create a video now, wishing your customers Merry Christmas and upload this video on December 23. Just remember to wear your favourite holiday outfit 🙂
These little things can take lots of time and effort. If you can finish them now- you will have more time in the future to invest in other areas or work less every day later in the year.
6. Improve your website SEO
SEO: search engine optimization is crucial for your business growth.
Now is the time to go over your SEO settings and improve the optimization of each post. Make sure that your website is ranked high when a potential customer is looking for a service or product you provide.
